The Foundation supports short and long-term projects that benefit the Lafayette and West Lafayette Police Departments and our local community.

D.A.R.E. Program

D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) Indiana fosters solid community relations as parents, schools and police departments work together to help the children of Indiana resist drugs and violence. Currently there are 90 law enforcement agencies across the state teaching over 34,000 children the core skills needed for safe and responsible choices.
These skills extend beyond drugs to healthy and mature choices in life. By developing core academic and life skills, D.A.R.E. Indiana furthers both educational and prevention goals so as students grow to be responsible citizens, they will lead healthier and more productive drug-free lives.

K-9 Unit

The GLPF supports the K-9 Unit by providing grants for essential needs that go beyond public funding. These grants help cover expenses such as specialized training and equipment, ensuring the K9 units remain highly effective and well-maintained. K-9 Units assist officers with: area searches, article searches, handler protection, narcotics detection, and tracking.

It’s also a time to honor outstanding performance, with shift MVP awards presented to those who have gone above and beyond. The event features door prizes and camaraderie, making it a highly anticipated tradition within the department.
